ROCHESTER, VT – Advanced Illumination, a leader in LED lighting for machine vision applications and a part of the Exaktera family, is proud to announce the launch of the RL322 UltraSeal™ Ring Light Series. This new bright field illumination solution expands the company’s UltraSeal™ portfolio, bringing certified IP69K protection, high-intensity output, and a patented, hygienic design to ring light applications in the most demanding hygienic industrial environments.

True to the UltraSeal™ name, the RL322 Series is engineered specifically for aseptic manufacturing environments where sanitation is non-negotiable. The series features a patented, virtually crevice-free design, eliminating the exposed fasteners, cracks, and seams common to other lights on the market. These design flaws in other products often become harborage points for bacteria and mold, making them difficult to sanitize effectively. By contrast, the RL322’s smooth, sealed surface prevents debris accumulation and withstands the high-pressure, high-temperature steam cleaning and harsh chemical washdowns required in food, beverage, and cosmetic processing.
A key feature driving the series is the option for embedded overdrive strobe control. This feature integrates the control module directly into the IP69K-rated light head, further eliminating the need for integrators to house and protect an external driver in a separate cabinet. Despite its compact, sealed footprint, the RL322 delivers exceptional power. Built with high-performance industrial-grade LEDs, the unit uses this technology to drive intensity well beyond continuous levels for high-speed lines. For example, a 100mm medium lensed RL322 unit outputs approximately 35 klx in continuous mode at a 300mm working distance; when configured with the optional overdrive strobe-enabled embedded controller (ES option), the light can achieve more than 170 klx at the same working distance.
Beyond its performance capabilities, the RL322 Series is designed to be as versatile as it is durable, offering a level of configurability rarely found in washdown-rated lighting:
- Tailorable Optics: The series offers a variety of lens options for adjusting beam angles and multiple window materials to fine-tune the level of diffusion.
- Glare Elimination: For applications involving shiny or wrapped products, such as blister packs, optional polarization is available to eliminate specular reflections and glare.
- Simplified Integration: The light features universal connector options, allowing it to connect directly into machine vision cameras that provide light output connections, simplifying cabling architectures.
- Versatile Sizing: To accommodate a wide range of camera lenses, the series features a unique square aperture available in two sizes: a 100mm x 100mm opening for larger fields of view, and a 50mm x 50mm opening for compact systems and close-range inspection.
The series is available in 14 distinct wavelengths, including White (5500K), UV (365nm–395nm), Visible Color (Royal Blue, Blue, Green, Red, Deep Red), and Infrared (730nm–940nm).
The RL322 Series is ideal for the food and beverage industry, providing the intense, uniform hygienic illumination required for quality control of F&B production. Its IP69K sealed rating and housing materials are specifically optimized for “splash zone” applications, such as verifying tamper-evident seals on bottle caps, reading expiration codes (OCR/OCV) on milk cartons or matte packaging, and inspecting raw food products, such as sorting produce or inspecting baked goods for char, without the risk of bacterial contamination from the lighting hardware.

To further tailor the solution to specific environmental requirements, integrators can choose between two housing materials: Stainless Steel for aggressive cleaning agents, or Anodized Aluminum for standard washdown environments where high-pressure washdown protection is needed without exposure to harsh caustics. As part of the Exaktera family, the RL322 pairs with autoVimation’s Dolphin Series of IP69K-rated protective camera enclosures. This pairing offers integrators a robust, fully hygienic machine vision hardware solution, ensuring that both the camera and the light are protected against high-pressure washdowns without the need for complex custom housings.
